Court - Limited finances led to theft of two bras

A 24-year-old woman has been fined for stealing lady’s underwear.

Before last week's sitting of the district court in Portlaoise was Armanca Muntean (24), with an address at 10 Warren Grove, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.

Inspector Oliver Baker gave evidence that the accused entered Penneys, Laois Shopping Centre, on October 23 and placed two bras, valued at €14, into her bag and left without paying for them.

When arrested, she admitted the offence and was fully cooperative, said Insp Baker.

The accused had previous convictions, including thefts.

Defence, Ms Ann Manning said that her client had three children, aged two, three and six. She was not working and her finances were limited, said Ms Manning.

She stole the bras for her own use, defence concluded.

Muntean was convicted and fined €100.
