Court - Probation for stealing tin foil to smoke heroin

Heroin

A man who stole tin foil from a Portarlington shop in order to smoke heroin has been put on probation.

John Curley, Ferrycarrig Drive, Coolock, Dublin, stole a roll of tin foil from Centra, Main Street, Portarlington, on May 11 this year.

In addition, €20 of the drug was found on him by gardaí.

When the case first came before the court in June, Judge Catherine Staines adjourned the matter for a probation report.

When the case returned to the district court last week, solicitor, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick admitted that the probation report on her client was of concern, but said one positive was that Curley is on a methadone maintenance course in Dublin.

Judge Catherine Staines applied the probation act, section 1.2.
