Man released without charge in Philip Finnegan murder investigation

A man arrested in Portlaoise on Wednesday in connection with the murder of Philip Finnegan in Rahin Wood outside Edenderry last September, has been released without charge.

The man had been detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, as amended at Leixlip Garda Station.

Gardai have said that the investigation is ongoing.

Philip Finnegan's body was found at Rahin Wood on September 2, almost one month after his disappearance. His remains were discovered by people out walking.

The deceased had links with organised crime and had previously been attacked and shot at.
