Cannabis and cocaine found in two separate searches

Drugs worth around €2,500 were detected by gardaí in Portarlington in two unrelated drugs seizures last Friday.

Cocaine valued at €2,000 was seized by the gardaí following a search of a house in Portarlington.

The search of the house under the Misuse of Drugs Act took place on Friday, November 18, at Railway Mews, involving gardaí from Mountmellick, Portlaoise and Portarlington and members of the detective unit.

One male, a local man in his 20s, is assisting the gardaí with their investigation.

In a separate incident, a vehicle was stopped and searched at Portarlington Main Street on November 18, as part of Operation Thor, and cocaine and cannabis found.

Following on from this, a search of a house was conducted at Lea Road, Portarlington.

In total, drugs worth €500 were found arising from the entire operation.

A man in his 20s, from the local area, is assisting gardaí.
