Local people in the Emo area have been left in a state of distress after the robbery of flower pots from family graves at the New Cemetery.

Up to 30 graves were affected in the incident which occurred sometime late last Saturday night - early Sunday morning.

Flowers and top soil from the pots were scattered over graves.

The discovery was made by a local man visiting his wife's grave early on Sunday morning.

“It was very unsightly,” said Cllr Tom Mulhall.

“People are very upset with what has happened.
