Portlaoise travelled to Kilkenny for their first Kilkenny league game of the season against Kilkenny Stars.

Portlaoise knew it would not be an easy game. Panthers started the game well with great inside scores from Dan Wolski.

This great start was quickly turned around as Kilkenny began to gain a foothold in the game. Kilkenny stepped it up on offence and answered back with fine scores from Rory Philips.

Kilkenny was starting to play great basketball but Portlaoise stood strong, boxing out very well and pulling rebounds from Dan Wolski. It was turning out to be a great first half game with the home team leading by ten points.

Portlaoise made changes at the break to see can they scrape back that ten point gap. But Kilkenny had a different approach and continued to add pressure on Portlaoise and caused the away team to turn the ball over numerous times that resulted in scores which gave the home side a major lead. Portlaoise did not drop their heads and kept playing still fighting for this game.

Portlaoise were still working extremely hard on defence to steal the ball and added late scores from Paddy Critchley but Kilkenny won the game well in the end but a big effort from all the Portloaise boys must be noted.
