This Saturday night will see the town of Portarlington come to a standstill, as the Portarlington and Gracefield GAA clubs come together for the inaugural ‘Battle of the Barrow’ Fight Night.

The fundraising initiative has been undertaken by both clubs, with 12 members of each club donning gloves and singlets in Portarlington GAA centre to claim bragging rights in the border town.

Training for the boxers has been carried out under the watchful gaze of brothers Willie and Anthony Crampton from Clonbullogue Boxing Club.

The doors are set to open at 7pm, with the first fight of the night getting underway at 8pm. Admission is €15, and there will be music provided after the even by DJ Peter McEvoy.

As with all of these events, a great night’s entertainment is guaranteed, and while entertainment is all well and good, the bragging rights that come with that are far more important! Whichever side of the border you’re on, you won’t want to miss it, so be sure to make your way to Portarlington GAA club on Saturday night.
