A Laois girl will represent Ireland next week at the European Showjumping Championships in Vienna.

13-year-old Jessica Kuehnle from Coolrain will travel to the Austrian before the weekend as part of a four person Irish team that will take on the best the continent has to offer.

On board her 9-year-old mare ‘Best Lady’ Jessica will compete in the Children on Horses Grade which is for riders from 13 to 14 years old. ‘Best Lady’ was bred and is owned by Coolraine’s Kieran Phelan.

Jessica qualified for the Irish team based on her performances throughout the year and she is excitedly looking forward to the event.

An experienced rider for her age, Jessica has competed internationally before as part of the Irish Pony Eventing team. She has been practicing hard for her trip to Vienna at the Tullibard Stud in Coolrain which is run by her proud parents Hans and Julia.

It will be a busy time for the Kuehnle family as Jessica’s younger sister Jennifer will also be in action at the Dublin Horse Show which starts next Wednesday. Nine-year-old Jennifer will be aboard ‘Benny’ for the event in the RDS.
