Good win for U-13 girls over Berkeley

Portlaoise Panthers U-13 girls travelled to O’Loughlin’s Kilkenny to play a brilliant game against Berkeley.

Portlaoise Panthers U-13 girls travelled to O’Loughlin’s Kilkenny to play a brilliant game against Berkeley.

Jessie Preston was first up on the scoreboard followed quickly by Rebecca Reddin. The Panthers settled into the game and finished the first quarter with a comfortable lead, thanks to fantastic scoring from Sara Fleming and Ellen Garvey.

Berkeley came into the second quarter fighting, but with great team work from Eleanor Healy and Sinead Brady, the Panthers held onto their lead. Grainne O’Reilly showed unbelievable strength and determination winning every loose ball. Ciara Byrne, Shauna Dooley and Rachel Glynn controlled the game as lead ball-handlers, executing wonderful passes to their team mates Sinead Murphy and Ella Byrne, which resulted in well deserved scores. Jasmine Burke dominated under the boards with excellent rebounds.

The Panthers girls showed a positive attitude throughout the third quarter as they gained a seven point lead and held on to it until the end of the game. Top scorers: Sara Fleming 8, Rebecca Reddin 6, Ciara Byrne 6.
