Juvenile Inter Club Track & Field Challenge
The third stage of the Juvenile Inter Club Track & Field Challenge took place in Vicarstown last Tuesday night. We could not have been luckier with the weather as the sun shone brightly on a warm balmy evening.
We had some great performances from all our young athletes and some great wins into the bargain. This challenge is all about participation, winning being a bonus.
Our relay teams were fantastic with the U/12 Mixed Relay team of Mary Kate Brennan, Adam Dunne, Niamh McDonald and Ryan Francis being clear winners. The U/14 Boys relay team of Cian McDonald, Lewis Churchouse, Josh Francis and Adam Dunne were also winners. Adrian Dunne came 3rd in the U/8 60m and he also threw 34.85m in the Ball Throw.
Adrians older brother Adam won the U12 Boys 100 m, came 2nd in the U12 600m and also finished 2nd in the Ball Throw with a mighty throw of 37.95m. Ryan Francis came 3rd in the U12 Boys 600m, was joint 2nd in the U12 100m and threw 33.80m in the Ball Throw.
Mary Kate Brennan has been a model of consistency and she came 4th in the U12 100m and 2nd in the U12 600m. Niamh McDonald came 3rd in both the U10 80m and U10 300m. Ava Churchouse and Faye McEvoy competed excellently in the U8 300m race for girls. The U14 100m saw Cian McDonald come 3rd and followed in 4th by Lewis Churchouse. The
U14 800m proved a different story however as both Cian’s and Lewis’s superior stamina over the longer distances saw them finish 1st and 2nd respectively. Aine McDonald won the U16 girls 800m. The U16 Boys 800m saw Josh Francis win a great race with Declan Foyle finish a good 3rd.
Josh double up by winning the Boys U16 100m with Declan coming second in the shorter sprint distance. Davin McEvoy also ran excellently.
