Laois athletes and institutions will pick up four awards at the annual Roscrea Regional Sports Star Awards, which were announced recently.
The awards, organised by the Roscrea Community, Tourism and Leisure Centre (RCTLC) are in their 15th year, and Laois has one of it’s strongest ever representations this time around.
Mary Mulhare has been chosen as the Athletics award winner after another hugely successful season for her. He currently works as the Sports Inclusion Disability Officer with the Laois Sports Parntership, where he has helped to introduce countless people with various disabilities to the world of sport.
Borris-Kilcotton hurler PJ Scully has been selected as the Youth Award winner, having won four Laois MHC ‘A’ titles in a row. He captained Borris-Kilcotton’s team this year as he capped off a hugely successful minor hurling career.
The final Laois winners are St Fergal’s College, Rathdowney, who are being given a Special Recognition Award after celebrating their 75th anniversary this year.
