Laois Marlins have broken yet another record, bringing home 43 medals from the Kilkenny Summer Gala –its greatest medal haul to date.

Laois Marlins have broken yet another record, bringing home 43 medals from the Kilkenny Summer Gala –its greatest medal haul to date.

Gold went to Valera Zaharovs (50m free), Zara McMahon (50m back), Eleanor Holland (50m fly), Jack Pretorious (100m free), Emma Rouget (50m breast), Michael Spillane (100m fly) and the U-12 Boys Relay team.

Silver medals were won by Valera Zaharovs (50m back), Ben Wall (100m breast and 100m fly), Cian Nugent (50m free), Eleanor Holland (100m IM), Christian Kenny Carroll (100m free and 100m IM), Jack Pretorious (100m IM and 100m back), Ian Heffernan (100m back), Jack Rouget (100m IM), Katie Donoghue (50m breast), Padraig Spillane (50m breast),Sean Donoghue (50m breast), and Aoibhinn McDonald (50m back),

Bronze went to Valera Zaharovs (50m free and 100m IM), Zara McMahon (50m free), Ian Heffernan (100m IM), Luke Smullen (100m IM), Emma Rouget (50m fly), Conor Menendez (50m back), Michael Spillane (100m breast), Cian Nugent (50m breast), Padraic Spillane (50m back) and both the boys and girls U-12 relay teams.

Daniela Klerauskaite, Sadhbh Kenny-Carroll, and Amy Pretories won bronze in the relay as well as recording very strong PBs and top ten rankings.

Euginia Melnikova also ranked in the top ten and shaved a total of 19 seconds off her events. Grace Hayes shaved 15 seconds off her combined events and also featured strongly in the top ten.

It was also a great Gala for Niamh Ryan who shaved off a total of 17 seconds.

According to Head Coach Irina Dawson. “This was really a fabulous gala all round, made even more special by the presence of so many of our junior squad members and their wonderful performances.”
