This victory sees the Panthers make it two wins out of two, as they continue their winning streak in what is turning out to be the perfect start to the season.
Despite going ten points down in the first quarter, they rallied hard to close the gap which provided them with the opportunity to pip the home side to the post in the dying moments of the game. Kileen were first out of the blocks scoring five baskets without reply. However, two quick baskets from Mc Cormack and a well taken three from Colohan saw Portlaoise establish themselves in the game.
With momentum on their side, they continued their scoring spree into the second quarter and took the lead through scores from Keane and Dunphy. Finding their range on offence, Kileen were to finish the stronger of the two teams on the close of the half as they swished a three to finish five points up.
The third quarter belonged to Colohan who was top scorer on 17 points. She was unstoppable outside the arc displaying her three point shooting talent. With Kileen under severe pressure on defence they got into foul trouble early. Clever Portlaoise play saw them take advantage of this, bringing them to within one point going into the last with all to play for.
There was never more than one score between the teams in the last and as the game drew to a close it looked like it was Kileens day but, with 20 seconds on the clock, Brennan stepped up to hit a three to level the game.
Kileen, with possession, went for the win but resilient defence from Portlaoise saw them get the steal and run the ball with Sweeney netting the final play winning the game for the Panthers.
