Borris in Ossory Fundraiser in aid of Laois Sports Partnership, Sports inclusion Disability Programme. A fundraising sale will be taking place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday December 5, 6 and 7 in a shop unit, Main St., Borris in Ossory. We are asking for donations of any kind, new or old to help us reach our target i.e. clothes, ornaments, toys, jewellery, plants, books, household items etc. Any donations for a cake sale, items for a raffle or items to make up hampers. Kilcotton GAA Club will hold their annual Auction and Cake Sale in the GAA Field on Sunday December 1 at 1.30pm. There will be timber, turf, silage, straw etc. on offer and also a cake and home baking sale. All support will be greatly appreciated.


A Christmas Party will take place in Ballaghmore Hall on Friday night December 20 from 7pm to 9pm. There will be disco music, fun, games, presents, food and a raffle and there will also be a visit from Santa Claus! A great night is assured and all are welcome.


The results of last week’s Progressive 25 Drive in the O’Brien Hall were as follows 1st Sean and Anna Bourke, 2nd - Paddy Dunphy and Larry O’Mahony , Noel and Tony O’Sullivan, 3rd Martin Delaney and Martin Walsh, 10th game – Dan and Mary, 20th game – Kieran Fitzpatrick and Anne Russell.

The Progressive 25 Drive will continue next Thursday night in the O’Brien Hall at 9pm.

Before last week’s Progressive 25 Drive, votes of sympathy were passed with the following on their recent bereavements and a minute’s silence was observed – Sean Finan and the Finan family on the death of his grandson Shane, Mary Kelly, Ballinakill on the death of her sister in law Mrs Kelly, Portlaoise and with Neil Maher on the death of his sister.


The annual Christmas Card game will take place in the O’Brien Hall on Thursday December 5. This will be a €10 game and support will be greatly appreciated. Donations for raffle prizes on the night will also be welcome.


The Parent and Toddler group continues every Monday morning from 10am to 11.30am in St.Canice’s Hall, Borris in Ossory. All parents, grandparents and minders are welcome.


The Pioneer Total Abstinence Association wish to thank all who contributed to the recent Church Gate Collection. A sum of €375 was collected.


A Christmas Concert featuring the Laois ICA Choir and local artistes will be held in Knockaroo Church on Sunday evening December 15, starting at 7.30pm. Refreshments will be served afterwards in Knockaroo Community Centre. Admission is €10 and proceeds will be donated to the victims of the hurricane in the Philippines.


Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place each Tuesday in St Canice’s Church, Borris in Ossory from 10am to 3pm. Adoration takes place in Killasmeestia Church on Thursdays from 9.30am to 3pm and in Knockaroo Church on Tuesdays between 2pm and 4pm. Anyone is welcome to come along and spend some time in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.

Tickets are currently on sale for our Annual Christmas Draw which will take place on Friday, December 20. 1st Prize is a Christmas Hamper valued at €300, 2nd Prize is load of timber, 3rd Prize to the value of €100 , and numerous other prizes. Tickets are €1, and all support would be greatly appreciated,as all money raised goes towards extra curriculum activities for the pupils.
