The 4,000 year old bog body found in Cashel Bog near Portlaoise two years ago is to feature in a BBC4 documentary this Thursday at 9pm.

Program makers 360 Production will explain how ‘Cashel Man’ may have been a Bronze Age king, sacrificed in a ritual killing because of a failed harvest.

The body was uncovered by Bord na Móna milling machine driver Jason Phelan.

It is the oldest fleshed bog body in the world, 700 years older than Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun.
