The expert review must include public submissions, and examine health issues, says Sinn Féin Deputy Brian Stanley.
“It is essential that the public play an important role at every step of these projects and that their concerns are addressed, especially those directly affected by pylons,” he said.
He was part of a Sinn Féin delegation to meet recently with Eirgrid to push for undergrounding of cables.
“The public can be forgiven for thinking that the Commission set up to study the alternatives to undergrounding, announced by Minister Rabbitte this week, is just a cynical ploy designed to get Fine Gael and Labour over the local elections in May. The public won’t be fooled so easily.” he said.
