Money for a lift, but not compensation

An Offaly woman convicted of driving off without paying for petrol on four separate occasions last week told Judge Staines she didn’t have full compensation as she had paid a friend to drive her to court that day.

Danielle Cronin, Cloghan Hill, Cloghan, Offaly, was convicted in July of four drive-offs and ordered to pay compensation.

Her solicitor, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick handed in €160 last week and told Judge Staines that Cronin had paid money to a friend to drive to her court that day.

The judge put the matter back to January 23 for the balance of €50 to be paid.
