Port site sell-off

A half hectare site in Portarlington Business Park has been sold by Laois County Council, by way of a 500 year lease to a local business.

A half hectare site in Portarlington Business Park has been sold by Laois County Council, by way of a 500 year lease to a local business.

Site 5 has been sold for €30,000 to Paul Carney of Camsaw Distributors Ltd, situated alongside the site at Site 6.

Councillors approved the disposal of the 0.33ha site at their February meeting.

Also sold off was a piece of land at 57 St Brigid’s Square in Portarlington.

It was sold by the council for €300 to Ann Dunne and Christopher Bourke from Portarlington.

The council also disposed of two pieces housing of land, at a nominal cost of €1 each, to the Housing and Sustainable Communities Agency.

The first site is 0.91 hectares in Bride Street, Ballinakill.

The second is 1.0281 hectares (2.54 acres) at Derry Road, Durrow.

The agency supports housing bodies by giving advice on on policy implementation, technical help and underwriting loans for house purchases.
