Portarlington clinical psychologist, Dr Eddie Murphy, will be leading a dual event as part of Laois Connects Week.
People are invited to attend a talk which will take place on October 3 in Mountmellick Community Arts Centre at 8pm. Dr Eddie will deliver a motivational talk exploring the links between healthy minds and bodies and the benefits of physical activity.
Dr Eddie said: “In this talk on ‘Top Transformation Tips’ I will be looking at factors that stop us becoming our real selves such as fear, relationships, stress, and then exploring solutions to these emotional icebergs. There will be no questions asked of anyone in the talk, all you need to do is turn up and relax.”
On the following Saturday, October 5 the walk will take place in Emo Court at 11am.
Dr Eddie will lead a 4.3km walk from Emo Community Centre onto Emo Court, through the beautiful wooded trails and grounds of Emo Court. Don’t miss this excellent opportunity to join him in getting motivated and getting active. The purpose of the walk is to connect and be active together. Everyone is invited to connect with the people around them, friends and family and the local community. This event is free and people are invited to come along and participate in the walk.
Caroline Myers of Laois Sports Partnership said: “As part of Laois Connects week this walk is to promote physical exercise as being an important component for improving mental health. Many of us know that being more active outdoors is good for our physical health, but getting outdoors into nature can improve mental health too.”
