Laois Council has bestowed its highest honour on Laois Civil Defence for more than six decades of service to local people.
Many of the 80 strong volantary force were present on Thursday, May 10 at a Civic Reception in County Hall hosted by the council.
The citition to honour the group said the council was privileged and honoured to acknowledge the important and valuable role which Laois Civil Defence plays in providing wide range of services in our community.
Lois Civil Defence operates the reserve emergency service. Apar from helping the community its members assist other emergency services where necessary.
Since its establishment, Laois Civil Defence has continued to grow from strength to strength.
“We take this opportunity to salute the important works which are carried out by your members. We recognise the significant contribution which you make not only to our county but regionally and further afield as circumstances dictate,” said the citiation.
