A BORRIS-in-Ossory mum of four is celebrating this week after scratch cards she received from friends as birthday presents netted her a cool €24,000 on Saturday’s National Lottery TV gameshow ‘The Big Money Game’.
Nurse Geraldine from Sentry Hill revealed, “I received the scratch cards as birthday presents last June and this is where the lucky three stars came from.”
The tickets were purchased at Carraig Road Service Station in Roscrea and Geraldine, who is on maternity leave at present, works as a nurse in the local St Anne’s Centre.
Geraldine is very interested in GAA matters and her husband of 12½ years, John, is Chairperson of the local Borris-Kilcotton Hurling Club. They have four children, Emma, Aine, Sarah and Sean (4½ months).
She was accompanied by enthusiastic family and friends to RTÉ studios for the eleventh ‘The Big Money Game’ show of the summer season hosted by Brian Ormond and Sinead Kennedy, where the five players shared €237,000 between them.
Geraldine, like most of the nation, was glued to the boxing action at the London Olympic Games, when she received a call from her sister-in-law to tell her the good news that she’d been drawn to appear on the gameshow.
Delighted Geraldine explained that she intends to enjoy her winners. “I would love to change my car and carry out some home improvements.”
