St Brigid's Day was celebrated in St Peter & Paul's Church Portlaoise on February 1, with the tradition presentation of St Brigid's Crosses to the congregation at 10am Mass.
The crosses were a gift from the pupils from sixth class of Scoil Bhride in Knockmay.
The pupils had spent the previous day busily making the crosses out of reeds.
“This activity has become an annual event over the past number of years and has helped to keep the art of cross making alive and introduce it to new generations of children,” said principal Muriel Wall-Coughlin.
