A lane that floods in winter forcing people to abandon cars and walk, is to be inspected by the council.
Cllr Ben Brennan raised the problem on Ardenteggle Lane, off the Tolerton to Rossmore road, at the September meeting of Portarlington Graiguecullen district.
“There is also a business down there. People have to leave their cars there and walk home. This was discussed four or five years ago and not done,” he said.
Council area engineer Edmond Kenny believes there may be a culvert crossing the field that is silted up, causing the field to flood the lane.
“If there is a pipe it can be jetted,” he said.
“We know there is, the problem is it’s broken. You a either bring a new pipe down, or lift the lane the whole way, it’s not 50 metres long. I hope before winter that you have it sorted,” Cllr Brennan said.
