Huge line up for Mountrath Christmas Cottage Market on December 16

The Mountrath Christmas Cottage Market will take place on Saturday, December 16th.

There will be a super line up of marketeers at The Cottage Market at the launch of the new Community Hub at the old Brigidine Convent.

The Brigidine Sisters have gifted the Convent Buildings in trust to Mountrath Community Forum.

The Market wil take place from 1pm to 5pm.

It will feature five to six homebakers, including Aghaboe Farm Foods, Sarah Tynan, Nana's breads, Carmel's cupcakes, Jimmy's French pastries, and Sinead's Cosy Cafe delights. They will have a wide range of festive delights as well as their usual reliables.

There will be a range of Organic Vegetable farmers, including 7 Acres, handmade chocolates and truffles from Thais. Also featuring will be the town's resident artist, Darren from Ephriam Studio.

Anne and Lucy of Mountrath Cottage Market outlined more of the line up,

“We have homemade soap, bath bombs and baby balm from Lavender Bees.

“We have Lucy, Jackie and Esther from the Knitting group with everything from tea costs, scarves, baby blankets and cardigans. We have Mary of The Crafty pair who have an extraordinary array of knitted soft toys and patchwork dolls.

“We have Zuzanna with her amazing needlework to include embroidered table cloths, table runners and children's toys. We have Serge with his beautiful laser made products to include the most beautiful dolls houses and lamps and personalised pictures.

“Sharon will be along with fabulous wreaths of every description from her Christmas fayre collection to memorial creations. There's Sue with her personalised medal holders, picture frames and any amount of framed creations.

Mary Gorman will be along with her superb pieces that she has up cycled - Amazing pieces - perfect as a gift or a treat for yourself. We will have Michael with his crepe van and all the sweet or savory fillings.

“We have the prizewinning photographer Lorrie - you need to check out her amazing selection of framed prints and canvases. She also makes exquisite handmade Jewellery. There's Heather with her knitted toys to include mermaids, unicorns, and even a knitted farm.

“We have Elaine with her handmade Jewellery, crafted bookmarks, and all kinds of personalised gifts. Then we have Rebecca who has the ability to pick something that looks "ok" and transform it to something absolutely beautiful - vases bowls etc. There will also be lots more in the day!

“We will also have a visit from Santa, children's activities, lots of food and festive eats and treats for all guests as well as mulled wine. There will be at least 30 marketeers on the day."
