Laois history mapped out
Historical Maps of Laois is the topic of a talk to be given by Dr Arnold Horner, of the Geographical Dept of UCD, in the Heritage Hotel, Portlaoise, on Thursday, April 19 at 8pm.
This promises to be a very interesting subject delivered by one of the best recognised experts on Irish historical maps. Dr Horner is author of a number of books on history related matters including some on old maps. The talk is part of the Spring series of lectures organised by Laois Heritage Society. All welcome and admission is free.
Arts Newtwork concert
South East Laois Arts Network will present West Kerry singer and musician Seamus Begley and the BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year 2012, Tim Edey, in the wonderful surroundings of Coolanowle House this Friday, April 20. This is funded by the Arts Council and organised by Artlands.

Main St Stradbally AGM
THE Stradbally Main Street Residents Association are holding their annual General Meeting on Wednesday, April 25 at 8pm in St. Marys Hall.
All are welcome to the meeting to help our community to get our town looking well for the summer.
Annangough GAA table quiz
The annual Annanough GAA fund-raising table quiz will take place in Crean’s in Vicarstown on Friday, April 27, at 9.30pm. Tables of four cost €10 per head but U-18s are just €5 - all are welcome for what should be a good night’s entertainment. Top prizes guaranteed.
Downtown Portlaoise are hosting a fundraising concert on Friday, April 27, with The Knights Showband performing in Coppers in Portlaoise.
