Arrests made in Port area car break-ins

TWO men have been arrested following a number of break-ins to cars in Portarlington this week.

TWO men have been arrested following a number of break-ins to cars in Portarlington this week.

The thefts took place at four different locations across Portarlington on Monday evening, targeting vehicles at the Heritage Golf Club, the Portarlington Golf Club, Gracefield GAA club and the Cooltaderry area.

A spokesperson at Portlaoise Garda Station revealed that the men were apprehended when gardaí observed a suspicious car in the area, a silver BMW. The men, both from Dublin and aged in their 20s, were arrested and brought to Portlaoise Garda Station.

One man has already been charged and is due to appear before a future sitting of the District Court. The other man is still being questioned by gardaí.

The garda spokesperson confirmed that all property has been recovered from the break-ins, although some damage was caused to the vehicles.
