No paint for Portlaoise’s park

“I CAN’T accept that you haven’t the price of three gallons of paint,” was Cllr Willie Aird’s unimpressed retort to the news that Laois County Council have not got the funding to paint the new wall at The People’s Park in Portlaoise.

“I CAN’T accept that you haven’t the price of three gallons of paint,” was Cllr Willie Aird’s unimpressed retort to the news that Laois County Council have not got the funding to paint the new wall at The People’s Park in Portlaoise.

“It’s a very serious matter,” he told this week’s meeting of Portlaoise Town Council. “We were looking at proper parking and we put up very high walls as a perimeter. They don’t look well.”

Town engineer, Farham Nasiem informed the meeting that no funding is available to carry out the work. Cllr Aird replied: “The least you can do is go down and look at it”.

Mr Nasiem told the meeting that the walls in The People’s Park were finished in such a way that they don’t have to be painted, but he gave an assurance to see what could be done.
