Bank closure ‘detrimental’

THE closure of Portarlington’s AIB branch on October 26 will have a ‘detrimental effect’ on business in the town according to Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick.

THE closure of Portarlington’s AIB branch on October 26 will have a ‘detrimental effect’ on business in the town according to Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick.

The Offaly councillor said people of the town are ‘very concerned’.

“The closure will have a detrimental effect on the possibility of new business start ups in Portarlington and the ever increasing cost of fuel will certainly put extra expense on the general public once again if they have to travel to do their banking in Portlaoise or Tullamore,” he said.

Cllr Fitzpatrick expressed frustration over the loss of another service on the town’s main street.
