COUNCILLORS are not sticking to the roads programme, according to a senior executive engineer at the Borris in Ossory electoral area meeting.

When asked by Cllr John Joe Fennelly if the road from Ballybodin to Gurteen could be reinstated, Mr Malone said that councillors did not include it on the 2013 roads programme. He added that Ballybodin was included by councillors for 2014.

“Last year some councillors got through to senior management to get roads done to the detriment of other roads. You are not sticking to the programme,” he told councillors.

Cllr Brendan Phelan said that no road should be taken off the programme unless agreed by councillors. Cllr John Bonham said that the weather had an impact.

“When we had the severe frost two years ago, it changed everything.”
