A Dublin man who wascharged with possession of drugs at Electric Picnic six years ago, was before Portlaoise District Court, last week.

The court heard that Daniel Haughton with an address at 2 Laburnham Lodge, Newtown, Celbridge, County Kildare was found with €20 of canabis and ecstasy at Electric Picnic in 2007.

His solicitor said the case had been before the courts in 2008, but Haughton had misunderstood what he had been told. He was unaware that there was any warrant out for his arrest, until he attended his local Garda Station on family law matters.

The defending solicior said a guard had put his name into the system and “the warrant popped up”.

Judge Staines struck out the charges against Haughton, saying there had been a six year delay in executing the warrant.
