Mountmellick is decked in bunting ready for four days of Summerfest fun, starting this Thursday evening with a visit by the Roses contestants, and a ‘Beat on the Street’ for all the family in the MDA grounds.
On Friday O’Connell Square will have a traditional Farmers Market all day from 9.30am, featuring local food producers, with some stalls still available up to last Friday.
On Saturday is another Beat on the Street disco from 5 to 9pm, with entertainment outside the Community Arts Centre. Events include a dog show at 4.30, demonstrations by local clubs, a barmans’ race at 8pm, buskers, art and craft fair, a childrens fancy dress competition and Wild West horse riding skills demonstrated by Fosse Mountain Ranch Timahoe.
The theme is American country on Sunday, with Abbeyfolk on stage in O’Connell Square at 2.30, a Garth Brooks tribute band at 4.30, and American trucks and vintage cars, stalls and entertainers.
