Put a pedestrian crossing on the Mountmellick Road near the Cedar Clinic, Rossvale and the soccer grounds to improve road safety, said Cllr Caroline Dwane.
Reply from PJ Dempsey, road design office: The Cedar Clinic and Rossvale are both adjacent to a roundabout, which has dropped kerbs and uncontrolled crossings. It would be expected that residents and patrons would make use of these crossings. It would be expected that those attending the soccer grounds would make use of the nearest available uncontrolled crossing.
“I’m disappointed,” remarked Cllr Dwane. “Wheelchair users have difficulty getting up on the footpath.”
