A probation report was last week ordered on a Portarlington man who admitted dealing drugs for a year.

Keith Dempsey, 81 Marian Avenue, Portarlington, was charged with drug possession, and possession for sale or supply, at his home on July 25 this year.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence that €450 of cannabis was discovered in Dempsey’s house. When questioned, Dempsey admitted he had been selling the drug for a year.

Defence, Ms Anne Manning said her client had a cannabis habit at the time, and was supplying the drug to a group of people he was hanging around with.

The matter was put back to December 4 for a probation report. Dempsey must also submit himself for urinalysis.
