A Portlaoise woman has been fined €100 for public order offences at the local garda station.

Stacey Benson, 5 St John’s Square, Portlaoise, was charged with threatening or abusive behaviour, and failure to comply with the gardaí, at Portlaoise Garda Station on January 13.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly gave evidence she was clearly intoxicated and after the person she was with was arrested, she became very abusive and aggressive to the gardaí and had to be arrested herself.

Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client wants to move to Dublin, where her mother lives, as her local connections “are not helpful” in dealing with her problems.
