A Portlaoise man has been charged with assault causing harm.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly told last week’s district court that Christopher Dwane, 28 O’Moore Place, allegedly punched another man in the head at Top Square, Portlaoise, on March 15 last year, causing the injured party to fall to the ground and break his jaw.

The case was put back to March 19 for a plea or hearing date to be fixed, and for Judge Staines to rule on jurisdiction.

Defence solicitor is Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick.
