TRAGEDY struck two Laois families this week following seperate accidents in Galway and Kilkenny.

Rathdowney native Angela Kenneally (aged 61), nee Hickey, of Templemore will be laid to rest with her husband Thomas, aged 650 this weekend. The couple were killed in a two car collision about 3 miles from Kilkenny city.

The collision occurred at about 6.45pm on Wednesday, August 24 at Troyswood on the Kilkenny to Freshford Rd. Their daughte, who is a teacher in Durrow, was also seriously injured in the accident. Two other people were also hospitalised.

Meanwhile, it is reported that a Laois man has died after being crushed outside a car dealers in Galway. The accident happened at about 1.30pm on Thursday afternoon as cars were being loaded at Windsor Motors in Ballybrit.

The man who is understood to be aged 48, became crushed between a truck and a car, died in hospital in the early hours of this morning.

The Health and Safety Authority has been notified.
