Defending, Philip Meagher, said Eloba had travelled to Paris to attend a Congalese Conference where he a man told him that having a french licence would make it easier to get an Irish one.
“He met the man the following day, set up the driving test and paid him €250. Six weeks later he received the documents which purported to be a french licence. In hindsight, he can see how this we reckless,” Mr Meagher said.
