A Mountrath man has been sent forward for trial on a charge of dangerous driving causing serious bodily harm.

Keith Delaney, with an address listed at Trumera, Mountrath, is charged with committing the offence at Dysartbeg, on July 31 last year.

Inspector Aidan Farrelly said there were no garda objections to bail.

Garda Michael Kenneally, who arrested Delaney that morning in the body of the court, said he was requesting Delaney to surrender his passport and not apply for any travel documents.

Defence for Delaney explained that his client had returned from Australia recently, and was hoping to go back there.

Legal aid was granted to defence counsel.

The matter has gone back to November 14 for a book of evidence to be served on Delaney.
