There is little funding for council services in Mountmellick / Borris in Ossory despite the Property Tax according to Rhoda Dooley Brogan
Sinn Féin Candidate in Borris-in-Ossory / Mountmellick Municipal District.
She called for the €530 m in property tax to be used for lights, signage, footpaths, traffic calming, street cleaning etc which councils are struggling to maintain.
“There is a huge need for local services in towns like Rathdowney, where paths in Quigley Park require a complete overhaul and in Mountmellick, where lighting is needed in Pond Lane. Public lighting is also a huge issue in Rushall in Mountrath where there are also anti-social behaviour problems for residents to contend with and lighting would be of huge benefit to this estate”.
