A mother of four from Limerick was last week given a suspended sentence for attempting to bring drugs into the Midlands Prison.

A mother of four from Limerick was last week given a suspended sentence for attempting to bring drugs into the Midlands Prison.

Before the district court was Jean Costello, 1 Moylish Avenue, Ballynanty, Limerick, charged with trying to bring in €20 of cannabis on July 12 this year.

Defence, Ms Josephine Fitzpatrick said her client had been visiting a relative in the jail.

Judge Staines imposed a six-month sentence, suspended for two years.
