A Portlaoise woman was last week fined for having licence plates on her vehicle that were hard to read.

A Portlaoise woman was last week fined for having licence plates on her vehicle that were hard to read.

Before the district court in Portlaoise was Margaret McDonagh, with an address at 7 Lynden Court, Portlaoise.

She was charged with having front and back identification marks not conforming, at Railway Street, Portlaoise, on March 17.

Garda Aodhan O’Flaithearta gave evidence that the plates were very hard to see. He said that he had cautioned McDonagh on numerous occasions, but she never changed them.

Defence, Mr Philip Meagher said she had been driving her husband’s car on the day.

McDonagh was fined €100.
