The dog warden’s job, not a garda’s

A man convicted at last week’s court of having no muzzle on his dog told the arresting garda it wasn’t the gardaí’s job to deal with dogs.

Jozsef Banoczi, 1 Glenkeen Park, Fairgreen, Portlaoise, committed the offence at Mountmellick Road, Portlaoise, on March 16.

Garda Aodhan O’Flaithearta said he told Banoczi to put the muzzle on his dog, to which Banoczi replied it was the dog’s warden’s job to address the issue.

Banoczi was fined €100.
