STUDENTS’ grades are up again this year in the Leaving Cert results in Portlaoise College. The students all arrived into the school bright and early last Wednesday to receive their results after a long wait all summer.
School principal Noel Daly said that the school was very happy overall with the results. “We were very pleased as well with the maths results. The grades are up again in the school this year. The standard is improving all the time”.
“The students were all in here very early, everything went well. Maths was the biggest concern”. Mr Daly wished all the students well in their future endeavours. “A lot of students are going for media and digital, and sound engineering, the are the growth areas. There is also big demand for arts and nursing”.
Mr Daly told the Leinster Express that he is looking forward to the new school year. The school recently appointed a new vice principal - Patricia Cullen - who will be starting in September. It is also introducing ebooks for incoming first year students, who will be starting their first classes in the next couple of weeks.
