The situation around Garda stations was getting very serious, claimed Cllr Michael Gormley at Mountmellick Town Council monthly meeting last week.
Had the Town Clerk received any correspondence on the issue? he asked. Town Clerk Pamela Tynan: “No.”
Cllr Paddy Bracken: “They are going to roll out Garda stations in a van, which seems most unusual. There is a great fear that Garda numbers are going to be reduced further. The Minister should do something to alleviate fears.”
