The public is being urged to vote no to “ill-conceived” abolition of the Seanad by Laois’ Labour Senator.

Urging people check the register of electors ahead of the referenda on the Court of Appeal and the future of Seanad, Senator John Whelan.

“I will be urging people to support the establishment of the Court of Appeal but to vote a resounding No to the Government’s ill conceived plan to abolish the Seanad. We need a strong and reformed Seanad,” he said.
