A Portlaoise man charged with the possession of heroin told the district court that someone had left the drug in his house.
Aaron Rattigan, 100 Carmody Way, committed the offence on May 22 this year.
When he previously appeared to face the charge, the case was adjourned as he was in breach of a suspended sentence.
Defence for Rattigan explained last week that a two-month sentence was subsequently activated against Rattigan at the CCJ in Dublin, but he is appealing this.
Defence said that Rattigan does not have a heroin problem.
“Why did you have heroin?” Judge Catherine Staines asked the defendant.
“Someone left it in me house,” replied Rattigan.
He was fined €200.
