On the eve of this weekend’s Fianna Fail Ard Fheis, Deputy Sean Fleming has said that the party is “hamstrung, overcautious” and is needlessly clinging on to the policies of the last government.

“Everything has moved on,” Deputy Fleming said. “The economy has moved on, our policies haven’t moved on, that hasn’t happened yet.”

He said the reaction to the decision of An Bord Pleanala to shoot down the National Children’s Hosptial was an example of this. “I thought it was the right decision, that it shouldn’t be put in the middle of the city. But there were people in Fianna Fail who said we should support it because we put it through government.”
