In the wake of the High Court upholding planning approval for a substation and pylons in Coolnabacca, the Ratheniska Timahoe Spink Substation Action Group are to hold a meeting to decide what is next.

RTS spokesperson Colm Fingleton hopes for “a big turnout” for the meeting in Ratheniska hall at 8pm, next Tuesday February 24.

“We want to outline to everyone all that has has happened so far, where we are, and where we go from here,” he said.

Oireachtas members have been invited.

“We encourage as many people to come as possible,” Mr Fingleton said.

Last November RTS appealed An Bord Pleanála’s approval of Eirgrid’s planned substation and pylons in the rural location.

The €50,000 in legal costs had been raised through local donations.

Last January the High Court upheld An Bord Pleanála’s decision, leaving the group “devastated”.
