New solar powered traffic signals were installed at Cloneyhurke national school.
The signs has been fitted with an electronic flashing indicator which shows the speed a motorist is travelling.
The measure was welcomed by Cllr Eddie Fitzpatrick.
“This will be of benefit to parents when they are bringing their children to the school and in the evening when they are been collected,” said Clr Fitzpatrick thanked the Area Engineer and Roads Section of Offaly County Council for installing the new safety signals.
“It is very important that motorists be aware of rural schools and slow down to ensure safety for all,” he said.
