The Portlaoise Action to Homelessness (PATH) group have organised an action packed fundraising day to raise much needed funds for their charity.
Buses will leave Portlaoise on Saturday, September 26 and head to ‘Croghan Hill’ in County Offaly for an action packed day which includes a fun 5km walk/run obstacle course.
“All levels of fitness abilities are welcome and the emphasis is moreso on a fun-packed day for PATH volunteers and enthusiasts’ said Darren Keane, Chairperson of PATH.
A party will be held in Kavanagh’s pub, main street, Portlaoise, following the day’s challenge.
‘PATH’ consists of a group of volunteers who are committed to feeding the Homeless in Dublin. ‘PATH’ looks out for the vulnerable in Portlaoise town and throughout Laois as well.
The organisation is 100% volunteer based service, and rely on their network of volunteers to be able to carry out their work with the homeless.
PATH do not receive any government funding and totally rely on donations from the general public and the revenue from their commercial partners.
They travel to Dublin on a weekly basis, due to the majority of rough sleepers from all around Ireland being based in Dublin.
They have regular meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at 8pm in Kavanagh’s.
